Principles of Professional Education (10 Weeks)
This course presents a variety of ways that adults learn. It will show how past experience, culture, and learning styles affect the classroom environment, plus show different ways to help each learner. This course will teach how to create instructor-student relationships that make the student more likely to succeed. Participants will learn how to help students develop abilities such as organization, critical thinking, methods of learning, and test-taking skills. Participants will also learn how to write a personal teaching philosophy and come to understand the responsibilities of being a full-time faculty member.
Respiratory Therapist applicants must:
- Have an active, valid, unencumbered license to practice respiratory care, imaging services or nursing.
- Be a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the NBRC, or have the appropriate credentials to practice in Radiologic Technology or Nursing.
- Have an earned Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Have successfully completed KITT 303, Fundamentals of Quality Classroom Teaching, OR
- Have 5 years of full-time classroom teaching experience at a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy Program, Radiology Program or Nursing Program.
Radiologic Technologist applicants must:
- Have an active, valid, unencumbered license to practice radiological technology.
- Be credentialed in Radiological Technology through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
- Have graduated from an accredited imagining program with an Associate degree or higher.
- Have at least 4 years of clinical experience.
Nursing applicants must:
- Have an active, valid, unencumbered license to practice nursing.
- Be a registered nurse credentialed by the National Nursing League.
- Have graduated from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s of nursing degree or higher.
- Have at least 3 years of clinical experience.
